GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) act on central and peripheral targets involved in energy balance. Centrally, GLP-1Rs in the hypothalamus and brainstem (e.g., area postrema/nucleus tractus solitarius) reduce hunger and enhance satiety signaling; they also interact with mesolimbic reward circuitry (dopamine pathways), which can attenuate cue-driven food seeking and cravings. Peripherally, slowed gastric emptying and pancreatic effects (glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppression of glucagon) contribute to glycemic control and reduced caloric intake.
Route Considerations (EazeTabâ„¢ Buccal ODT)
Buccal administration provides systemic exposure without GI transit or first-pass hepatic metabolism. In practice, this route can support earlier systemic availability compared with swallowed oral dosing and may help patients perceive earlier satiety signals, subject to individual variability and prescriber-directed titration. Compared with subcutaneous injection, buccal delivery avoids needle use and injection-site considerations and does not rely on depot absorption from subcutaneous tissue; systemic exposure results from transmucosal uptake. Dosing is prescribed on an every-5-day interval.
GLP-1 Mechanism of Action
Supports appetite regulation, glucose control, and metabolic balance through GLP-1 receptor activation.
Type 2 Diabetes & Metabolic Health
Used under physician supervision to help improve glycemic control and support metabolic care in adults.
Rapid Onset & Direct Absorption
Disintegrates in under 3 seconds; absorbed through the cheek lining into systemic circulation—bypassing the stomach and first-pass liver processing.
Personalized Interval Dosing
Prescriber-directed dosage with an every-5-day cadence, optimized to patient tolerance and clinical response.
Adolescent & Young Adult Access
Clinician-guided option for teens and young adults—early support for healthy metabolic management. Addresses your adolescent’s needs with medical oversight and personalized care.
